The two-day BEFFTA UK awards event celebrated talent from entertainment, film, fashion, television and arts.

Other Ghanaian artistes who made a showing at the awards ceremony were Fuse ODG, who won Best UK Afrobeats; Atumpan received the International Afrobeats Acts Award, while Kwame Koranteng won Best Male Fashion Designer.

Dee told The Mirror in an interview that she was grateful for the recognition. “I didn’t think anyone was watching and admiring my work. Even though I have followers on Facebook and twitter, I least expected it.

I have always worked hard, and stayed determined, so to be nominated and then go ahead to win was just a great feeling;  Very exciting, yet humbling. The London fashion industry is big and tough, so when you get recognised, it’s an amazing feeling. It means, at least, you are doing something right,” she added.

Dee is currently undertaking a short course at the University of Arts, London to improve her knowledge in fashion.  “I don't know it all, and I always say, ‘never stop learning if you do have the opportunity’ ”.

The stylist said she had great plans for next year. She has been approached by designers and event promoters and is also working on a collection from basic wear to elegant dresses.

She expressed her appreciation to all those who have supported her over the years and everyone who voted for her.

The BEFFTA Awards honour the best showbiz and entertainment personalities in the black and ethnic communities globally, especially in the UK, USA, Africa, Caribbean and Canada.

The awards ceremony, founded by Pauline Long, also aims at inspiring black and ethnic personalities worldwide to reach the highest levels. It also provides a networking platform for industry personalities.
