Ghanaian entertainers should explore new markets beyond Nigeria- comedian OB Amponsah
Even though Nigerians seem to be the preferred “destination” for many Ghanaian entertainers to explore, Ghanaian comedian, OB Amponsah is charging Ghanaian entertainers to explore new markets beyond Nigeria.
In a recent interview on Joy Prime, he clarified that Nigeria is not a competitor, but rather a single market within the vast African continent.

He encouraged Ghanaian entertainers to broaden their horizons and explore other countries and territories.
“The space is big and Africa is huge, and when you travel outside Ghana, you would realise that there’s a lot of common stuff that we all share as Africans. So, I feel like the space is broad and we should explore beyond the Nigerian mentality because even between us and Nigeria, there’s Togo.”
OB Amponsah pointed out that Ghanaian comedians have been making waves internationally, just as Nigerian comedians have. He observed that while Nigerians are frequently invited to perform alongside Ghanaian entertainers, the spotlight has moved beyond them.
“I feel like our focus is too much on Nigeria. I’ve performed in Rwanda, Zambia, and South Africa. Oh Joo and Ebenezer Dwomoh went to Kenya to do shows; Jacinta has performed at Apollo. So, Nigerians are not like our competition,” he added.
On Saturday, OB Amponsah will host a standup comedy special dubbed, “Love at Bukom Banku Arena” on Saturday, December 21.
