Glitz, glamour and good music at Rhythms on Da Runway

DUBBED, Kente Edition, the 12th Rhythms on Da Runway told the African fashion story when it came off at the Grand Arena of Accra International Conference Centre (AICC) on Saturday, November 30.

The excitement and glamour even started prior to the main event. Guests mingled as they sipped on drinks and posed for pictures against colourful artistic backgrounds.

And when the real event, emceed by Jerry Adjorlolo and AJ Akuoko Sarpong kicked off, there was no doubt patrons were in for a good time. Kwanpa's electrifying performance pluus Poet Apiokor's powerful Kente-inspired poem just set the ball rolling for the night.

Designers including Ophelia Crossland, Velma’s Millinery and Accessories, Yaws Creation, Selina Beb, Odefille, Milkwhite Apparel, Masantewaa and Kustom Look Clothier graced the runway with beautiful and intriguing creations.

But the night wasn’t all about fashion. There was good music too as Rapper Edem, Highlife artistes Amandzeba, Kwabena Kwabena, Michael Stuckey, Bibie Brew, and Asabea Cropper and Kenteman performed to the admiration of the audience.

However, the auditorium was sent into a frenzy when the reigning Telecel Ghana Music Awards(TGMA) Artiste of the Year, Stonebwoy made a surprise appearance on the runway.

He didn’t only strut his stuffy, he also performed and he made a plea for peaceful elections as Ghana goes to the polls on Saturday, December 7.

On the night, Agya Koo Nimo, Chief Dele Momodu, Bibie Brew and Kwabena Kwabena were honoured for their respective contributions to the creative industry.

Since its inception in 2010, Rhythms On Da Runway has grown into an event that fuses African fashion and music to celebrate creatives in the two industries while highlighting important issues.
