Gospel Music is “Soul Saving Campaign” - Nhyiraba Quojo

For one who has managed many gospel artistes and has the growth of the industry at heart, Nhyiraba Quojo Frympon, has chastised many gospel artistes for clamouring for attention and fame rather than using their platform to “reach out to save souls”.

According to the manager of gospel artiste, Lady Kess, the trend has become popular and has inspired some of the gospel artistes to make comments unworthy of them and what they stand for.

He was reacting to  comments made by gospel artiste, Patience Nyarko. The latter, in an interview prior to this year’s Vodafone Ghana Music Awards early this month said she would collapse. She did not win the Gospel Artiste and Song of the year awards she had been nominated for.

That, Nhyiraba Frympon says shouldn’t be encouraged since “Gospel work is a soul saving campaign and not for self glorification or popularity vote for VGMA awards.”

In an interview with Showbiz on Monday, he entreated gospel musicians to be committed to their work  and bring hope to people with their messages as “ambassadors” for a great revolution to save the youth from immorality.

“Some of these gospel artistes just do not know their calling. Sometimes, I feel they are just in business and would go any length within their power to get fame. I don’t want to victimise people but I think what my sister, Patience Nyarko said is in bad taste and must not be encouraged,” he stated.

He said that though gospel artistes are expected to assist one another to “ to grow to serve a common interest”, the opposite is the case as they rather sabotage their colleagues for their selfish interests.

A young entrepreneur with the passion to unearth and groom young talents for the gospel industry, Nhyiraba Quojo Frympon is the CEO of RedWaters Consult.

He is currently managing gospel artiste, Lady Kess, who came into the limelight in 2012 with her debut album titled, Ma wani dzi.

“Some of our artistes like Obaapa Christy, SP Kofi Sarpong and Joe Mettle are setting the pace and I wish these young ones would look up to them and emulate their good works”, he noted.
