Gospel music shouldn't be about making money - Kofi Owusu Peprah

Gospel musician Kofi Owusu Peprah is encouraging fellow gospel artistes to rethink their priorities, focusing on spreading the message of God's love rather than personal financial gain.

During an interview on Joy Prime, he drew inspiration from Jesus Christ's selfless sacrifice, noting that Jesus didn't charge for his teachings or the ultimate sacrifice he made.

If fees are necessary, Peprah suggests considering the church size and event type to ensure affordability for all attendees.

“We have not been called to make money. My plea is that as Christians, we shouldn’t be so rigid and hard fisted on how people should get you. You need to consider a lot of things like the size of the church.

“Let’s not be so strict; it’s not cast in stone. If you had to put a charge on the message of the cross, how much will it be? You can’t put a price on the cross,” he said. (Read Single mothers can't raise men - Jim Iyke)

Mr. Peprah also emphasized that event organisers should take into account the logistics involved for the musicians and ensure they are fairly compensated, enabling them to pay those who assist in their performances.

He firmly believes that anyone guided by the Holy Spirit who invites a gospel artiste to perform would gladly and promptly reward them for their work.

“If anybody invites you and the person truly has the Holy Spirit in him or her, the person wouldn’t have a problem with some of these things,” he said.
