Gramps Morgan names Monalisa Effah Homecoming Ambassador
THREE-TIME Grammy Award-winning Reggae star Gramps Morgan has named CEO of Lusso Casona, Ms Monalisa Effah, as the official ambassador for the Ghana-Jamaica Homecoming initiative, marking a major step in strengthening ties between Ghana and the Caribbean.
Her role will involve guiding diasporans, especially from Jamaica, through the process of reconnecting with Ghana. This includes helping them navigate relocation, investment opportunities, and building a lasting presence in the country.
The announcement was made at a formal ceremony in Accra on Friday April 10, 2026, where key figures gathered to celebrate a growing movement aimed at reconnecting the African diaspora with their roots.
The Ghana-Jamaica Homecoming is an initiative built on shared history, identity, and a renewed push for meaningful engagement between Africa and the Caribbean.
In selecting Monalisa Effah, Gramps Morgan highlighted her strong track record in diaspora relocation and investment. Ms Effah has spent over a decade helping individuals, families, and businesses transition into life in Ghana.
“Her experience made her a natural choice for the role. She is someone who understands not just the emotional side of “coming home,” but also the practical realities that come with it,” he said.
Ms Effah who was moved by the appointment, shared her excitement and sense of responsibility.
“Homecoming takes preparation, trust, and the right guidance. I am honoured to carry this mandate and to help ensure that those making the journey find a Ghana that is ready to receive them.
“The initiative reflects a shift in how we as a country engage with the diaspora. It is no longer just about festivals and symbolic visits. It is about creating real pathways for people to return, settle, and contribute to national development,” she said.
The Homecoming festival is expected to include cultural experiences, business networking and investment opportunities designed to deepen relationships between the two regions.
