GTA urges public to remain calm as investigation unfolds on Accra Information Tourist Centre (ATIC) fire outbreak

The Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) has issued a statement urging the public to remain calm and await the outcome of the investigation into the fire outbreak at the Accra Tourist Information Centre (ATIC).

The blaze, which occurred at approximately 12:30 AM today, has caused significant damage to several properties, including offices of the International Affairs Department, the Call Center of the Ghana Tourism Authority, the Tour Operators Association of Ghana, and the National Film Authority (NFA).

Fortunately, no casualties were reported in the incident. The Ghana National Fire Service responded promptly to the distress call and successfully brought the fire under control.

Eyewitnesses say the flames may have originated from the kitchen area of Rockz Waakye, a popular food vendor operating within the premises.

However, the cause of the fire is currently under investigation, and the GTA has assured the public that it will provide updates as more information becomes available.

In the press release signed by Director of Corporate Affairs for GTA, Bright Asempa Tsadidey, it mentioned that GTA was working closely with relevant authorities to assess the extent of the damage and develop a plan for reconstruction and recovery.
