Integrity is Miss Ghana real crown for 69 years —Inna Patty

AS the nation’s oldest beauty pageant, Miss Ghana, prepares to celebrate its 70th anniversary next year, the Chief Executive Officer of Exclusive Events Ghana, organisers of the pageant, Ms Inna Patty, has revealed the secret behind its longevity: unwavering integrity.

At a time when many pageants have struggled to remain relevant or have disappeared altogether, Inna said Miss Ghana had endured because credibility has never been compromised.

In an interview with the Graphic Showbiz before this year’s auditions on Saturday, June 28, Inna Patty described the pageant's platinum jubilee in 2027 as more than a celebration of age, calling it proof that an institution built on strong values can stand the test of time.

“No institution that has existed for 69 years will be without criticism. Over the years, we have faced our fair share of public scrutiny and backlash, but we have always viewed it as an opportunity to learn, improve and remain relevant.

“In many ways, those conversations have kept the Miss Ghana brand in the public eye. However, one thing that has never been compromised is our integrity.

“We have remained committed to transparency, credibility and the core values upon which the pageant was built and that is what has sustained us for nearly seven decades,” she said.

As Miss Ghana approaches its 70th anniversary, Inna Patty believes its greatest achievement is not simply its longevity but its enduring legacy of producing articulate, resilient and influential women who continue to make meaningful contributions to Ghana's development. She pointed out that since its inception, Miss Ghana has evolved from a beauty pageant into a platform that equips young women with leadership skills, confidence and a sense of purpose.

She said the organisation had remained committed to producing women who use their influence to champion social causes and contribute to national development.

"Miss Ghana's enduring legacy is seven decades of transforming young women into articulate, resilient and influential leaders who bridge the gap between grace and impactful socio-economic change," she said.

The milestone, she explained, also offered an opportunity to reflect on the pageant's rich history, which dates back to Ghana's first President, Osagyefo Dr Kwame Nkrumah.

She noted that the pageantwas initiated under his vision to develop young Ghanaian women into ambassadors for the nation, adding that historical records even showed Parliament allocated funds to organise the pageant because it was considered a national project.

"Reaching seven decades is a monumental milestone that underscores our resilience, institutional strength and enduring relevance," she said.

Beyond crowning beauty queens, Inna Patty believes Miss Ghana has consistently shaped generations of confident and socially responsible women.

"We have consistently redefined what a role model looks like by showcasing young women who are brilliant, articulate, educated and compassionate. We teach young girls that their worth is defined by their intellect, character and contribution to society," she explained.
