Promote our work - John Fiifi Mensah tells musicians

DIRECTOR of Photography, John Fiifi Mensah has urged Ghanaian musicians to promote the photographers and cinematographers who work on their videos.

Speaking with Graphic Showbiz after he won Best Cinematographer at the recently held 3RD TV Music Video Awards, John Fiifi Mensah said their work had been underrated.

“I’m not a beginner in this industry, I have been doing this for many years so winning this means a lot to me.

"It shows how committed I am in doing what I do. We put in a lot of work but hardly do we get noticed. I appeal to musicians to promote our good works.

“My sincerest appreciation to the organisers for putting up this award scheme which also brings to light the good works of video directors,” he said.

John beat the likes of Kofi Awuah and Prince Ibam to win Best Cinematographer award with the video of Drip by Medikal featuring Joey B and Kofi Mole.

Some of his other works include Bra by King Promise, Burn by Kwamz and Flava, Driving License by Becca and And So What by Fantana.

Some other winners at this year’s edition of the 3RD TV Music Video Awards dubbed, “Green edition” were Wutah Kobby (Best Concept video), Becca (Best Female Hi Life Video), Praye (Best Animation Video), Sista Afia (Best Female Hip Life Video) and Fameye (Most Popular Video).

Sarkodie won the ultimate prize of Overall Best Video with Lucky.

The event had in attendance artistes such as Sister Derby, Yaa Pono, Eno Barony, Praye, Maccasio, Petrah and Wutah Kobby. Comedians Clemento Suarez and DKB were present to liven the mood of guests with their jokes.
