King Ayisoba wants diplomatic passport (VIDEO)
Legendary Ghanaian musician, King Ayisoba, has expressed his desire to be considered for a diplomatic passport. The musician believes his international recognition and contributions to Ghanaian music warrant such an honour.
In an interview with broadcaster, Kafui Dey shared on the latter’s X page, the ‘I Want To See You My Father’ said his commitment and promotion of Ghanaian traditional songs globally qualifies him to earn the passport.
He emphasised that he's not bothered by those who've received diplomatic passports, acknowledging they've all played a role in promoting Ghana worldwide in their respective fields.
“For me, the people who received the diplomatic passports, I cannot say they don’t deserve it. Because Rocky Dawuni has worked hard. It is not easy to be nominated for Grammy so he deserves it.
“But I hope they will also think about me because when it comes to Ghanaian music traditions, if they will be truthful, I’m one of the best,” King Ayisoba said.
Minister of Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, presented diplomatic passports to five creatives who've made significant contributions to promoting Ghanaian and African culture globally. The recipients were Travel Vlogger, Wode Maya; Reggae artiste and Grammy nominee, Rocky Dawuni; media personality, Anita Erskine; Visual Artist, Ibrahim Mahama and entrepreneur:, Dentaa Amoateng MBE. This recognition aims to empower them to further represent Ghana on the world stage, eliminating visa hassles and facilitating their international engagements.
They've also been appointed ambassadors to promote the 2025 Diaspora Summit, scheduled for December 17-20 in Ghana.
