Only special people have creative abilities -Kalby

Celebrity stylist and beautician, Patience Dickson popularly known as Kalby is urging people to give recognition to creatives since they are special persons with unique abilities.

She mentioned that even though in our part of the world, creatives are not valued and regarded they are making huge gains in developed countries.

Kalby, who is the CEO of The Beauty Plush salon at Kwashieman estates pointed out that creatives save the government from the burden of youth unemployment since most of them are self-employed and provide jobs for others.

“I remember the stiff opposition I faced from family and friends when I wanted to be a professional beautician and stylist. I was made to believe that people who were less intelligent opted for the creative industry.

“But I beg to differ on this, it takes one with special abilities to create something that no ordinary person can do. As a beautician and stylist, my creative ability is to transform and improve one’s looks and it definitely comes with lot of special skills.

“Same with musicians, actors, painters, fashion designers and other units of creatives. How many people can make a product like music that brings so much joy and happiness to others? But these same people are rather labeled to be ‘unserious’ and this narrative is happening because of the poor understanding and value for creatives,” she stated.
