PeakArt Gallery puts Sami Bentil’s work on show

Ghanaian artist, Sami Bentil, has for long featured prominently among African artists committed to expressing the majestic splendour of the continent and some of his works will be on exhibition at the PeakArt Gallery at Awudome Estate, adjacent to Charterhouse in Accra, from December 13, 2025 to December 30, 2025.

The artist holds a solid reputation for the distinctive nature of his work which has been exhibited and widely collected around the world. He transforms ancestral wisdom, Adinkra symbols and Akan folklore into powerful contemporary statements on identity, cultural sovereignty and shared humanity.

Commenting on his method of work, Bentil says: “I have developed the skill and ability to harmoniously blend the brilliant lustrous colours that I feel in my heart, with subtle and yet intensely dramatic textured hues, to visually draw in and induce viewers to have pleasant uplifting feelings very much like listening to their favourite songs.”

Bentil studied Graphic Design at the University of Science and Technology in Ghana and trained under legendary artist, Kofi Antubam, at Achimota School.

The upcoming solo exhibition will showcase paintings that span decades of creating thought- provoking art that speak candidly to Ghana and Africa’s ’s cultural heritage.

Bentil admits he has a colour blindness handicap and that explains why he regularly opts for subdued shades that still allow for his broad subject matter and the international dimensions of his work.

The exhibition obviously represents just a sampling of Bentil’s diverse and dynamic works.  Kojo Danku, PeakArt Gallery Manager, however, indicates that the show that opens at 4.00pm on December 13, represents a rare opportunity to experience the depth and breadth of Bentil’s artistic vision.

“The exhibition traces the evolution of an artist who has remained steadfastly committed to celebrating African culture while promoting universal human connection,” the PeakArt Gallery Manager stated.
