Rama Blak hosts album launch concert on Sept.6

Highlife musician Rama Blak is gearing up to host an album concert, to officially unveil her latest album, Ɔdoyɛwu.

The concert which starts at 8:30pm is scheduled for Saturday, September 6, 2025, at +233 Jazz Bar and Grill, in Accra.

The album titled Ɔdoyɛwu has eight songs that Rama Blak is confident will be a game-changer for her career.

It will be released on Friday, September 5, a day before the concert and it features a collection of songs including AgorƆ, ƆdƆ KƆm, Fet, Nkyinkyim, Short Skirt, (Radio Edit), Worlase, Sɛnia, Kwame Macho and Kyerɛ Me featuring Osei Korankye.

The concert promises to be an exciting event, with a lineup of talented artistes billed to perform. They are Palmwine Band, Kwan Pa, Osei Korankye, and Kwame Brenya.

In an interview with Graphic Showbiz, Rama Blak who released Asaase Nnwom EP in April, said she was excited to be part of a new generation of artistes who are pushing Highlife music and the release of her new album is “receipt” of her years of work into her Highlife agenda.

“In 2018, I made the decision not to be afraid of my voice and start singing. Many friends as well as my fans always told me I had an ‘old soul’, whatever that means, I don’t know but what I know is that I’ve always loved our authentic Highlife music.

“That was one of the major drive to go into commercial music and I’m excited that things are gradually falling into place and I get to hold a concert next month,” she said.

Rama Blak, real name Awura-Ama Agyapong, has been making waves in the Ghanaian music industry with her soulful voice and passion for Highlife music.

As a PhD student at the University of Ghana, Legon, Department of Music, she has been studying ethnomusicology, which has influenced her music style.

Rama has been performing with the University of Ghana Highlife Ensemble and leads her own band, 'Vibe Tribe', which has played at several events, including the Nsadwaase Music festival.

Her debut single, Anansesem, released in 2018, gave her a taste of success, and she has since featured on Highlife legend Kwame Brenya's project, Brenya Ne Barima.

As an ethnomusicologist, Rama Blak is committed to creating a distinct style of merging indigenous and contemporary sounds. She has collaborated with respected artistes and bands, including Agya Osei Korankye, Legon Palmwine band, Atongo Zimba, Nkyinkyim Band, and Playing for Change Foundation.
