Retract and take it down - Sarkodie chides Sammy Gyamfi
Multiple award-winning Ghanaian rapper Sarkodie has advised the National Communication Officer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr Sammy Gyamfi to take down a controversial cartoon which interpolates the murder of African-American George Floyd.
The rapper in a tweet said he was sure that Mr Gyamfi did not want to joke with such a sensitive matter.
He posted: "Naa my brother we all go wrong sometimes... I will believe your intention wasn’t to joke with these serious n very sensitive issues, but you still wrong just do what’s right.... retract n take it down".

Sarkodie's tweet was among a torrent of reactions that were triggered by Mr Gyamfi's post which criticised the Electoral Commission's decision to compile a new voters' register.

It will be recalled that Floyd, 46, died after being arrested by police outside a shop in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Footage of the arrest on May 25 shows a white police officer, Derek Chauvin, kneeling on Mr Floyd's neck while he was pinned to the floor.

According to him, there is "nothing wrong with sharing of a cartoon which draws a parallel between the painful xenophobic murder of George Floyd, and the evil attempt by the GH EC to disenfranchise millions of eligible voters through a xenophobic voter register".
