Royal Diadem is about a chieftaincy dispute between brothers.  King Dapaah, played by David Dontoh, refuses to sell a part of their family land to foreigners for mining purposes.

King Dapaah’s brother, Oppong, played by Kofi Adjorlolo, who wants to sell the land badly decides to wipe out the entire palace for his greedy gains.

King Dapaah hands over the ‘Awienie’ (Royal Diadem), which is in the form of a bracelet to his most trusted guard (Frimpong) before he dies. Now, Oppong can only become king when the ‘Awienie’ is on his wrist.

In an interview with the Daily Graphic, the producer, Christian Lein Brown, said the movie aimed at portraying the bad and ugly sides of the African who would do anything to gain power.

According to him, as Ghanaians prepared for elections next year, he hoped politicians and people in authority would learn something from the movie.
