They spat on me’ – Shallipopi calls out Nigerian artistes over early struggles
Nigerian singer Shallipopi, born Crown Uzama, has opened up about the harsh treatment he says he received from fellow artistes while trying to break into the music industry.
In a recent social media post, the “Ex-convict” hitmaker revealed that between 2023 and 2024, several colleagues in the Nigerian music scene allegedly disrespected and rejected him instead of offering support.
“2023/2024 many artiste pour me spit for face… I mean manyyyyyy, that’s why I’m extra mean,” he wrote.
He explained that the experience has had a lasting impact on him, shaping his attitude and making him tougher in the industry.
Shallipopi rose to prominence after his breakout track Elon Musk went viral, turning him into an internet sensation. The song later received a remix featuring Zlatan Ibile and Fireboy DML, further cementing his place in the mainstream music scene.
Despite his criticism of many in the industry, the singer has previously credited Zlatan Ibile for playing a crucial role in his rise, revealing in an October 2023 Instagram post that the rapper supported his career “free of charge.”
