VGMA Music Weekend is here
WE are definitely not in normal times, if we were, the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA) would have been long over and people would have moved on to other events on the entertainment calendar.
Unfortunately, COVID-19 has changed everything leaving events organisers to make changes and the VGMA is one of those that has been affected.
Originally scheduled for May this year, organisers, Charterhouse, had to push the dates back to a time when it would be safe for people to gather.
Unfortunately, things have not gotten back to the normality we know and Charterhouse has adjusted its plans, putting all activities for the awards event into what it has dubbed: “VGMA Music Weekend” which will start from Friday, August 28 and end on Sunday, August 30.
In a press release, Charterhouse indicated that the VGMA Music Weekend will celebrate our culture, vivacious music, and iconic artistes.
On Friday, August 28, there will be the Industry Awards, Saturday will be for the main awards night during which 30 trophies will be presented and on Sunday, there will be a concert for frontline workers called VGMA Covid-19 Heroes Concert. All the events will start at 8 p.m.
Artistes billed to perform throughout the three-day event include EL, KiDi, Adina, Kuami Eugene, Kofi Kinaata, Medikal, Kwesi Arthur, Akwaboah, King Promise, Eno Barony, Strongman, Celestine Donkor, Ras Kuuku, Efya, Kofi Mole, Epixode and many more.
Unlike previous years, there shall be no ticket sales and attendance shall be strictly by invitation.
The late Ebony has held the Artiste of the Year crown for two year. Who takes over from her?
