Ghana Music Honours:14 receive awards

One of the highpoint programmes on MUSIGAS’s  week-long GMW Festival was the Ghana Music Honours  Night last Wednesday at which 14 individuals and organisations were specially recognised with trophies for their contributions to the growth of music in Ghana.

The awards evening was spiced with music performances from the likes of Efya, Okyeame Kwame, Oheneba Kissi, Sonnie Badu, Wulomei , Atongo Zimba, Nana Yaa, Ben Brako, Bessa Simmons and Esther Smith.

The list of honourees comprised: Kwame Yeboah- Instrumentalist; Prof. J.H.Nketia –Music Education; Abraham Ohene Djan - Music Industry Development;   Okyeame Kwame - Hiplife Music; and Pat Thomas - Highlife Music.

Others were Kojo Antwi - Musicians Choice; Charterhouse Productions- Music Promotion; Zapp Mallet- Sound Engineering; Yaw Sarpong- Gospel Music;  Sonnie Badu- International Act; Shabo Band- Music Band; Nii Tei Ashitey-  Traditional Music; Alhaji Sidiku Buari - President’s Honour. and Shasha Marley- Reggae Music; Alhaki Sidiku Buari -President's Honour.
