Volta Regional CNC requires GHc2million facelift to host NAFAC next year
THE Volta Region will host the National Festival of Arts and Culture (NAFAC) next year.
NAFAC’2026, which is slated for November 2026, is expected to draw an overwhelming crowd from various parts of the country, Europe, United States, Caribbean, and other parts of the world.
The Volta Regional Director of the Centre for National Culture (CNC), Mrs Lydia Nyarko-Ampomah, who disclosed this to Graphic Showbiz in Ho on Monday, January 20, said the specific days for the festival would be chosen later.
“We were handed the baton to host the event after NAFAC’2024 which ended in Techiman in the Bono East Region last December” she said.
Mrs Nyarko-Ampomah said the choice of Volta Region was based on its sterling performance at the NAFAC’2024, adding the region won the awards for the Best Costumes, Best Talents, in addition to wearing the Miss NAFAC’2024 beauty crown.
“The crown was worn by 22-year-old Sabina Emefa Attah,” she told Graphic Showbiz.
Apart from the exhibitions and stage performances, the fair would also include trips to the Adaklu Mountain, Tafi Monkey Sanctuary, the highest human settlement in Ghana, Amedzofe, and other sights of natural beauty, Mrs Nyarko- Ampomah added.
Meanwhile, the Regional CNC Director said an amount of GHc2million will be required to put the regional CNC in good shape for the grand event.
She said there was also a need to facelift the event garden and cultural village, and to put up a perimeter fence around the centre prior to the fair.
“The fair will boost the regional economy to astonishing heights and further encourage the growth of the ongoing ‘Visit Volta, Experience Ghana,’ campaign.
Mrs Nyarko-Ampomah appealed to corporate bodies and public-spirited individuals to support the CNC with funds and in various ways to host the festival with great success.
She noted that the success of NAFAC’2026 would definitely serve the broader national interest of marketing the region to the world.
