Warrior King Watches honours Agya Koo Nimo with custom timepiece at 95
Ghanaian luxury brand Warrior King Watches has marked the 95th birthday of highlife legend Agya Koo Nimo with the presentation of a bespoke timepiece designed in his honour.
The tribute, led by the company’s Chief Executive Officer, Mr Patrick Amofah, was held as a celebration of the musician’s enduring legacy and his profound contribution to Ghana’s cultural and musical heritage.
Mr Amofah described the moment as deeply personal, explaining that Agya Koo Nimo’s music had influenced his character and worldview long before they met.
“Agya Koo Nimo is my all-time favourite musician. His music shaped my life, my mindset, and my understanding of how to live with purpose and contribute to nation building,” he said.
He added that the veteran musician’s philosophy extended beyond melody and lyrics, shaping his views on work, people, culture and heritage.
“In many ways, his music raised me long before I ever met him,” Mr Amofah noted.
For the CEO, the presentation of the custom-made watch was not merely ceremonial but an emotional expression of gratitude.
“This presentation was personal. We did not take it lightly. It was emotional to stand before a man I hold in the highest esteem and say thank you in the language I know best – time,” he said.
The watch itself was crafted to symbolise authority, heritage and legacy. It features a deep black dial set within a polished gold-tone case, creating a striking contrast intended to convey both elegance and strength.
Adinkra-inspired symbols and cultural insignia adorn the dial, representing values such as resilience, wisdom and heritage. Rather than adopting a minimalist design, the piece embraces symbolism and storytelling, positioning it as a narrative object rooted in Ghanaian identity.
The inscription “WARRIOR KING” is placed on the right side of the dial, reinforcing themes of leadership and courage, while a vertical engraving of “AGYA KOO NIMO” on the left serves as a lasting mark of honour.
Gold-toned, angular hands enhance readability while complementing the regal aesthetic, and subtle minute markers ensure the cultural motifs remain central to the design. The timepiece is completed with a black leather strap, combining durability with a ceremonial finish.
Warrior King Watches described the presentation as more than a gift, calling it a tribute to 95 years of artistic excellence and cultural stewardship.
In a statement, the brand said the gesture symbolised respect for craftsmanship, culture and the enduring power of music to shape generations, while recognising Agya Koo Nimo’s immense contribution to Ghana’s musical and cultural history.
