Yaa Jackson: Awards are nice but they aren’t everything
Ghanaian musician Yaa Jackson has spoken about her perspective on awards and recognition in the music industry.
She said despite being overlooked for certain accolades, she remains undeterred, emphasising that her fans' support means more to her than any award.
For Yaa, creating music that resonates with her audience is what truly matters. She believes that the connection she shares with her fans is more valuable than any recognition she might receive from award-giving bodies and wasn’t discouraged by being overlooked.
“Awards are nice, but they’re not everything. I’m blessed with amazing fans, and that’s what matters. Sure, recognition is great, but I’m not defined by awards. I’ll keep making music that connects with my audience,” she stated.
Touching on industry collaborations, the Ehwe Papa singer noted the challenges but remained optimistic about the support she’s received.
“Getting features can be tough, but I believe in my music. I’ve had the privilege to collaborate with talented artistes and I’m grateful for that. The music community lifts each other up, and I appreciate that vibe,” she expressed.
She also thanked Shatta Wale for supporting her latest project: “I want to extend my heartfelt gratitude to Shatta Wale, the king, for his incredible support on my new single, Moses.
