Ablekuma Agape resident cries for tarred roads, complete drains
I reach out as a concerned resident of Ablekuma Agape to highlight a pressing issue — the incomplete drainage and road construction along Agape High Street, a major corridor that connects to Gbawe.
Construction of the drainage system began back in 2016 under the National Democratic Congress (NDC) administration. Unfortunately, however, the work was left unfinished when that government exited office.
In 2024, about six months to the elections, the NPP administration resumed construction, raising hopes in the community, only for the project to abruptly halt again around two months before the elections.
Now, the road remains in a terrible state: eroded, waterlogged in parts and almost impassable during the rainy season. The unfinished drains have exacerbated flooding risks and residents continue to struggle with transportation, rising costs and safety hazards.
Given the strategic importance of this road and the repeated pattern of stalled works near election cycles, many of us feel deeply frustrated and neglected.
We need accountability and clarity, not just political gestures.
