Flashing lights on motorbikes a menace
I am writing to express my concern about the increasing number of motorcycles with flashing lights on our roads.
It has become fashionable for motorcycles to have flashing lights as both head and tail lights.
The excessive use of these lights has become a menace, causing distractions and disruptions to other road users.
Research has shown that flashing lights can be detrimental to your health for several reasons, ranging from mild discomfort to severe neurological effects.
I am particularly concerned about the potential health effects on individuals with photosensitive epilepsy.
Flashing lights can trigger seizures in people with this condition, posing a significant risk to their health and well-being.
You can imagine the effect on a driver who might have this condition triggered and the consequential harm that this could cause to him or her and others on a busy road.
I appeal to your office to take the necessary measures to address this issue.
This could include:
- Enforcing existing regulations: Ensuring that motorcyclists comply with laws and regulations regarding the use of flashing lights.
- Educating motorcyclists: Conducting awareness campaigns to inform motorcyclists about the potential risks and consequences of flashing light use, particularly for individuals with epilepsy.
- Implementing new regulations. Considering the introduction of new regulations or guidelines to govern the use of flashing lights on motorcycles.
I believe that taking these steps would help to improve road safety, reduce distractions and protect the health and well-being of all road users.
