Paying for ECG's criminal negligence?

The recent announcement by the Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC) on the intended increase in electricity and water bills has got my blood boiling.

Whilst that of water is manageable, that of electricity is what is unnerving me. 

Increasing electricity tariffs like asking consumers to pay for the colossal loss incurred by the institution’s criminal conduct of mismanaging the importation of over 1,300 containers of materials. 

Ghanaians should reject these electricity tariff hikes. I urge all consumers to rise against these tariff hikes being imposed on us.

I would also like to enquire about what is the Consumer Protection Agency is doing about this.

Why should citizens who are already over-burdened with taxes, levies and cost of living be asked to pay more utility bills?

Let ECG recover their "lost" containers and their contents and use the money recovered to offset whatever loss they are making to warrant the increase in electricity tariffs.

I call on Ghanaians to reject this increment. ECG can cut the supply to consumers if they so wish.

After all, Ghanaians have survived years of dumsor, and can, as well, endure this one too.
