Letter to the Editor: Repair faulty vehicles to prevent accidents

Dear Editor, The rate of road accidents has increased. This could be attributed to a number of reasons.

Carelessness by drivers is one of the causes of road accidents.

Many drivers in our country do not care when their vehicles develop faults because they have to pay to repair them.

However, they forget that they will end up paying huge amounts when the situation gets out of hand.

Recently, some of my relatives reported a driver who did not bother when his vehicle started to emit smoke in spite of the complaints made by the passengers. The bus later caught fire.

Such carelessness by drivers goes on almost every day in our country. This has led to many road accidents in our country.

I am, therefore, appealing to drivers not to ignore the signs when they detect faults on their vehicles in order to avoid road accidents and loss of lives.

Cultivate habit of reading

Dear Editor, I urge all pupils and students to cultivate the habit of reading because it is one of the important things in the world.

Reading helps you gain more knowledge and broaden your horizon.

Reading also helps students to gain great command over the language and also learn new vocabulary. All these help students to improve on their academic work.

Since education is the key to succes, schoolchildren need to cultivate the habit reading so that they can excel in their exams. This will help them progress and move high on the educational ladder.

Therefore, parents should also assist their children to read at home by buying story books for them. There is a saying that reading makes a man.

So if children excel in their exam and they progress it will be possible for them to get good jobs in future. That will help them to be self-reliant.
