Christie Brown Academy’s inauguaral fashion show celebrates future innovators
These beautifully designed garments were on display last weekend when the World Trade Centre in Accra came alive, as the Christie Brown Academy (CBA) celebrated its first cohort of graduates with a fashion show.
The event, which featured 27 designers from the graduating class, showcased an array of creativity through what was described as “five-look capsule” collections.

The collections stunned the audience with a mix of avant-garde, sustainable fashion, streetwear and couture pieces .
Each designer’s collection reflected the cohort’s artistic vision and technical expertise, drawing inspiration from themes like nature and cultural heritage.
The event was a significant milestone for CBA, a pilot programme launched by Christie Brown Limited in partnership with the MasterCard Foundation.
The founder of Christie Brown, Aisha Ayensu, said “the success of the event reaffirmed the brand’s role in preparing the next generation of fashion entrepreneurs to make significant global impact.
“Our programme is dedicated to equipping young people, particularly women, with the skills and business acumen needed to thrive in the fashion industry .We couldn't be more proud of our graduates. We are thrilled to see what the future holds for these extraordinary designers,” she said.
Three designers, Salamatu Taimako Shamsudeen, Eunice Hinson and Patrick Hackman, were each awarded 1,000 dollars by way of seed funding, courtesy, the MasterCard Foundation, to support their entrepreneurial and humanitarian ventures.
Aisha noted that the programme's support extended beyond the graduation, offering access to a database of Africa-relevant fashion industry resources and expert personnel to equip the winners of the grant with tools for their long-term success.
