The CEO of the Kantanka Group, Kwadwo Safo Jnr, has offered candid advice to young people, urging them to avoid romantic relationships in the early stages of their lives.

Speaking on the Konnected Minds podcast, he mentioned the importance of focusing on personal and financial growth instead of carrying what he described as “baggage.”

“I mean, if I would tell the youth anything, it would be a harsh truth. Don’t get yourself involved in love in your starting life,” he stated firmly.

Breaking free from a “Minus Zone”

Mr Safo Jnr touched on the challenging starting points many young people face, particularly those from humble backgrounds.

“You are coming from a minus zone. Your parents don’t have it, but you want to make it. You don’t add up so much baggage. You don’t add up so much things that will take from you,” he explained, urging the youth to avoid distractions that hinder progress.

Instead, he encouraged young people to pursue activities and relationships that contribute positively to their development. “You bring things that would rather add up to whatever that you are,” he said.

The Kantanka CEO warned against engaging in behaviours that drain resources and energy, which can create long-term challenges.

“But if you keep on doing things that would always be taking things away from you, how are you going to make it in life?” he asked, pointing out that such patterns can become ingrained.

“Because it becomes a habit. Stopping it goes close to impossible,” he cautioned, underscoring the difficulty of breaking free from unproductive habits once they are established.

Mr Safo Jnr’s advice has sparked conversations about the importance of discipline and focus during the formative years of life.

His remarks reflect a broader call for young people to prioritise self-improvement and lay a solid foundation for future success.
