2019 BECE slated for June 3

The 2019 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) will be written in the first week of June, the Ghana Education Service (GES) has stated.

According to the 2018-2019 Academic Calendar for basic schools released by the GES, the examination would be written from June 3 to 7, 2019.

It said the first term of the new academic year would begin on September 11 and end on December 20, 2019 which represents 15 weeks in school, adding that students would go on holidays from December 21, 2018 to January 14, 2019 making a total of 25 days of vacation.

The second term, it said, would start from January 15 to April 11, 2019, which would be 13 weeks. Students will go on Easter break from April 12 to May 6, 2019 - a total of 25 days of rest.

The academic calendar for the third and final term of the academic year will begin on May 7 until July 25, 2019 a total of 12 weeks in school and the holidays will commence from July 26 to September 9, 2019 representing 46 days of holidays.

In all, it said, students would spend a total of 40 weeks in school to cover the entire academic year.
