GES sets September 17 for 2025 school placement, students report in October
The Ghana Education Service (GES) has announced that this year’s school placement exercise will commence on September 17, 2025, providing successful Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) candidates with a pathway into senior high schools across the country.
At a press briefing in Accra on Wednesday, the Director-General of GES, Professor Ernest Kofi Davis, confirmed that students who secure placement must report to their schools between October 18 and October 20, 2025.

To prevent common errors in the process, he revealed that a special review period has been created ahead of the main exercise.
From September 1 to September 8, candidates will be required to log onto the Computerised School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS) portal to cross-check their details, including gender, school codes and programme choices.
“In order to reduce the errors associated with school placement, candidates will have the opportunity to review the entries they have made; gender, school code, programme code, online on www.csses.gov.gh. This will be supported by an explainer video to guide parents,” Prof. Davis explained.
He emphasised that the placement would be strictly merit-based and cautioned against attempts to manipulate the process through payments or influence. “The actual placement exercise will commence on the 17th of September. Students are expected to report to campus and begin their studies between 18th to 20th October,” he added.
Prof. Davis also warned parents and guardians not to fall victim to individuals who claim they can guarantee placement in specific schools for a fee, stressing that the exercise would be conducted in a fair and transparent manner.
