German firm to support education digitalisation system — Minister

The Minister of Education, Haruna Iddrisu, has said Ambylon, a cutting-edge education technology company, will support the digitalisation of the country’s educational system.

He said the country would soon become a leader in digital education and technology on the continent through partnership with special-purpose vehicles such as AMBYLON.

He further noted that the government would collaborate with other agencies in the field of technology to provide the best in digital technology for Ghanaian students.

This was made known at a joint press conference attended by the German President, Frank-Walter Steinmeier, during his recent official visit to Ghana.

The transformation initiative would be executed in close partnership with key Ghanaian institutions: the Ministry of Education, the National Council for Curriculum and Assessment (NaCCA), and the Centre for National Distance Learning and Open Schooling (CENDLOS), which leads digital and distance-learning efforts.

integrate

Ambylon will integrate its advanced learning management systems, content development tools and immersive virtual reality (VR)-based educational experiences into Ghana's national curriculum.

This fusion is designed to align with the government's vision for equitable growth and opportunity through technology-driven education.

The Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Ambylon, Jörn Halsinger, said, “Ghana is setting a global benchmark.”

“The government is demonstrating vision and bold leadership by embracing digital education as a cornerstone of opportunity, growth and equality; we are deeply honoured to contribute to this historic transformation,” he said.

Details finalised

Details of the cooperation are still being finalised among the partners.

Implementation is set to commence in 2026, beginning with pilot programmes in selected regions before a nationwide rollout.

The partnership marks a significant step in Ghana's digital agenda, potentially positioning the West African nation as a global pioneer in edtech innovation.
