The Koforidua Technical University (KTU) in the Eastern Region has graduated its first batch of Master's degree holders.
The university, which was established in 1997, has since then been rolling out first degrees and diplomas.
At a colourful ceremony attended by enthusiastic parents, relatives and friends, the graduates hugged each other in their flowing academic gowns matched with caps.
Graduates
In all, a total of 112 students graduated, of whom 45 pursued Master of Science in Procurement and Supply Chain Management, 40 Master of Science in Accounting and Finance, 13 in Master of Science in Computer Science and 14 in Master of Science in Data Science.
Addressing the graduates at the university's premises in Koforidua, the Vice-Chancellor of the university, Professor John Owusu, said KTU would continue to produce highly skilled professionals who would contribute meaningfully to national development.
That, he stated, would be through the graduates' leadership, innovation and specialised expertise.
Student's population
Professor Owusu indicated that the university, which started with only 47 students in the 1996/1997 academic year, continued to grow and that it currently had a student population of 14,707.

The current students, he pointed out, were studying for Master's Degree Programmes, first degree programmes, Higher National Diploma (HND) and other technical courses in the university.
The KTU Vice-Chancellor told the gathering that the university had been consistent in the promotion of First Class and specialised education.
In view of that, Prof. Owusu emphasised that the university last year had accreditation to run the Master of Technology and Master of Science Programmes.
Programmes
The programmes, Prof. Owusu further intimated, covered Environmental Health and Safety, Construction Technology and Management, Water Resources Engineering and Management, Renewable Energy Systems Engineering, Civil Engineering, Telecommunications and Network Engineering, Health Informatics and Municipal Engineering and Management.
According to Prof. Owusu, the university had also deepened its international engagement and had currently signed 12 active Memoranda of Understanding with local and international institutions.
Partnership
Eleven additional partnerships, Prof. Owusu said, had been entered into by the university.
He said such collaborations had expanded opportunities for research, academic cooperation, staff development and student mobility.
He advised graduates to apply the knowledge and skills acquired at their workplaces, communities and everywhere they would find themselves and dedicate their services to the country.
The Chancellor of the university, Nana Kwasi Boama, who is also the Apesemakahene of New Juaben, was happy that the perseverance of the graduates had been rewarded.
Nana Boama said the university council's vision of transforming it to be a centre of excellence was being achieved.
He expressed appreciation to the government for contributing financial assistance through the GETFund board for the enhancement of infrastructural development on campus.
