The Headmistress of the school, Rejoice Acolor, expressed gratitude to the government for the free senior high school (SHS) education policy, which had increased enrolment and brought educational opportunities to numerous students.

She commended the staff for their dedication and the Board of Governors for their strategic guidance.

Technology

Mrs Acolor also honoured former heads and staff for laying the foundation for the school’s successes.

She emphasised the significance of technology in modern education, stating, “Today’s environment is driven and controlled by technologies based on the application of scientific knowledge.”

The headmistress listed the benefits of technology to include, “funding people in their fields and enabling their members to work together and thereby improve future goals and achievements, faster access to information by providing students with greater use of computers, especially laptops, offering flexibility in their study” and many more.

A former Amy Commander of the Ghana Armed Forces, Major General Samuel Nii Anum Odotei (rtd), outlined some of the challenges faced in implementing ICT in education to include the need for more ICT laboratories in schools, proper maintenance of available ICT facilities and most importantly provision of training, supporting and ensuring the well-placed supply of power and equipment.

The President of Labone Senior High, Nii Listowell Abgeli, praised the school’s progress, acknowledging the contributions of its founding fathers and the legacy of its oldest surviving student, Dr Danny.

She said the school’s aim was to undergo renovation and growth, with stakeholders and parents encouraged to support this effort. The old students’ association expressed gratitude to the staff and students, pledging to continue supporting the school.

The ceremony was indeed a celebration of the school’s achievements and a commitment to shaping a brighter future for its students.
