Professor Nyalemegbe assumes office as EPUC President

A presbyter of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church, Ghana (EPCG)’s Grace Congregation at Kpong in the Eastern Region, Professor Kenneth Kodzo Nyalemegbe, has assumed office as President of the E.P. University College (EPUC) in Ho.

Until his appointment, Professor Nyalemegbe was the Dean of the School of Agricultural Sciences of the University of Ghana, Legon.

After receiving his handover notes from his predecessor, Professor Tsatsu Adogla-Bessa, who acted as President of EPUC for almost three years, Professor Nyalemegbe said improving the financial standing of the institution and increasing enrolment would be among his priorities.

He said teamwork in running EPUC would be his hallmark.

Serve

The 73-year-old married father of five, who acted as President of EPUC from 2018 to 2021, said he was happy to return to serve the university college of his church in a substantive position.

“EPUC should be known nationally as an agricultural-oriented university,” Professor Nyalemegbe added.

He pledged to work assiduously to secure a Presidential Charter for EPUC before the end of his two-year term in office.

The new President of EPUC implored the EPCG to support the institution vigorously, financially and materially “to come out of the woods.”

Commendation

Presenting the handing over notes and the key to the office of the EPUC President, Professor Adogla-Bessa thanked the staff and faculty of EPUC, and EPCG for their support, sacrifices and resilience to overcome various challenges the institution faced during his tenure.

“I am optimistic that we will get to greater heights in terms of academia and attain the Presidential Charter soon,” he added.

Professor Adogla-Bessa promised to continue to support EPUC in diverse ways to attain greater heights.

Meanwhile, the Vice-President of EPUC, Rev. Dr Israel Nyarko, said EPUC’s management would continue to explore other income-generating activities to support the progress of the university college.

EPUC, which was established in 2008, now has 846 students pursuing various degrees and post-graduate programmes.
