Some celebrities including Yvonne Nelson, Sarkodie and DKB announced they were embarking on a vigil, dubbed “Dumsor must stop” to put pressure on government to address the worsening power crisis.
The procession was scheduled to start from the University of Ghana Stadium to the Tetteh Quarshie Interchange.
But a statement signed by the University’s Registrar, Mercy Hazel-Ashia, said “the University is not aware of, neither has it granted nor is in the process of granting permission to any group of persons seeking to organise or hold any such procession or vigil on/or within any of its campuses.”
The University is therefore demanding an immediate cessation of all mention of its name and or campuses in relation to the vigil, the statement said.
