
51-year-old software engineer Leslie Nkansa Osei Bonsu nominated as Mamponghene’s replacement
A 51-year-old software engineer, Leslie Osei Bonsu, has been nominated as Mamponghene’s replacement.
He was introduced on Monday by the Mamponghemaa Nana Agyakoma Difie II.
Whoever occupies the Mampong stool, referred to as the Silver Stool, is the Second-in-Command in Asanteman and holds the fort in the absence of the Asantehene.
Daasebre Osei Bonsu II, who had been occupying the stool since 1999 passed on April 2025 at age 86.
Leslie Osei Bonsu's name was put out on Monday and was introduced.
If approved by the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, he will then be installed as the next Occupant of the Silver Stool.

Leslie Nkansa Osei-Bonsu is a royal of Asante Mampong Botaase royal family.
He was born on March 14, 1974 in Kumasi.
He lived his early life in Kumasi where he started his education at City of Kumasi Preparatory School where he had his common entrance and proceeded to Prempeh College where he studied for his Ordinary level and Advanced.
He holds a first class Bachelor of Science (Hons) degree in Geomatic Engineering from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology and a Master of Science degree in Geo-Information Science and Earth Observation from University of Twente in Netherlands.
He also holds a second Master of Science degree Computational Science and Engineering, from the Technical University of Munich in Germany.
He is senior software architect and geospatial systems strategist with over two decades of experience.
He currently serves as a Product and Service Group Manager at GAF AG in Germany, where he oversees multidisciplinary teams delivering ISO-compliant software solutions for spatial analysis, agricultural
decision support, and secure identity management.
He is a certified Scrum Master and Product Owner, and a long-standing member of IEEE, ACM, and the IEEE Computer Society.
