Eight police officers and their families at Kuntenase in the Bosomtwi District of the Ashanti Region have been served ejection notices to vacate their rented premises by their landlord.

It is unclear why they are being ejected but a letter serving as final ejection notice written by lawyers of the landlord, Mr Francis Owusu Ansah, asked them to quit their rooms by March 31, 2015.

When contacted, the Ashanti Regional Police PRO, ASP Yusif Tanko said the command had asked for additional grace period to look for accommodation for the affected men and their families.

He explained that the police only owed two months rent.

First threat
In May last year, the landlord threatened to eject the police from the house for non-payment of rent but the district assembly intervened and rescued the police by settling part of the arrears.

Around the same time last year, the belongings of 12 other police officers at Jachie in the same district were thrown out by their landlord for owing years of rent.

Efforts
Currently, the eight police officers occupying the house and their families are scouting the town and adjoining communities in search of accommodation.

Confirming the story, the District Chief Executive for Bosomtwi, Madam Veronica Antwi-Adjei said she had been informed by the district police commander of the development but was yet to be briefed fully on the issue.

She said she had already initiated arrangements to get accommodation for the affected police officers.
