Abronye DC remanded into BNI custody on a charge of publication of false news and 'derogatory' comment about a judge
The Bono Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwame Baffoe, commonly referred to as Abronye DC has been remanded into the custody of the Bureau of National Investigations (BNI).
The Accra Circuit Court has remanded him into BNI custody when he appeared before the court on Wednesday (May 13, 2026) in relation to the publication of a video online in which he allegedly made derogatory remarks to the effect that a Circuit Court judge was always presiding over political cases and that the judge’s rulings were wrong and full of grammatical errors.
The prosecution told the court that, in an attempt to incite members of the public against the court and the judge, Kwame Baffoe stated: “You are not a judge but rather a politician who has who has covered your hair with a sack claiming you are a judge.”
The accused, according to prosecutors, mounted furious attacks on the judge on social media following a foul comment from a pastor on the Vice President, a case currently under trial.
He has been charged with one count of publication of false news and one count of offensive conduct conducive to the breach of the peace.
His lawyers’ application for bail was refused.
He is to reappear on May 27, 2026.
