The Afari Military Hospital in the Ashanti Region will be completed and operational by September, Defence Minister Dr Edward Kofi Omane Boamah has announced.

In a Facebook post on Thursday, February 20 2025, he said the government is taking steps to resolve the challenges that have stalled the project for over six years.

This follows his visit to the facility last Friday and a meeting with Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.

To speed up completion, the Defence Ministry met this week with Messrs Euroget De-Invest, the company handling the construction, to address financial, legal, and technical concerns.

The company has been asked to submit a formal report by the end of tomorrow to enable the government to review the issues and make cost-effective and lawful decisions.

The 500-bed military hospital was initiated under the Mahama administration and was originally expected to be completed by 2018.

The project has since faced delays. Dr Boamah said the current government will see it through while ensuring prudent use of public funds.
