The Leader of the Ghana Evangelical Society (GES), Rev. Prof. Enoch Immanuel Agbozo, has called on professional institutions to identify and address the problems that are preventing the country from progressing.
According to him, it is the responsibility of professional institutions such as the Ghana Institution of Engineers (GhIE), the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) and the Ghana Medical Association (GMA) to bring sanity and order in the areas they operate.
“We have experienced the dangerous and bad things that are impeding the progress of the country and it is their responsibility to correct them,” he added.
New Ghana
At a press conference in Accra last Thursday, Rev. Prof. Agbozo said the country needed a “new Ghana” which would include a new politician, a new pastor, a new lawyer and a new civil servant who would have the country at heart.
“We need new leaders who will serve the country in the knowledge of God, humility and righteousness,” he said.
Rev. Prof. Agbozo stated that God would not use angels but Ghanaians to change the nation. He, therefore, called on Ghanaians to change their hearts and minds and change from their wicked ways of engaging in corruption, robbery and diversion of national assets to themselves. That, he said, would enable God to give them direction and knowledge on how to rule the country.
Rev. Prof. Agbozo assured the righteous and loyal who were praying that God had plans of building a glorious and beautiful nation.
He added that God had already judged those whose activities such as corruption impeded the development of the country.
Heal the nation
Rev. Prof. Agbozo added, however, that God had heard the prayers of the nation and would turn the economic situation around to improve the lives of the people.
“The Most High God has heard the cries of confession and repentance of the nation. He has promised to heal the nation, rebuild and restore it unto its heaven-ordained divine destiny,” he stated.
He reiterated that all that would come to fruition if Ghanaians, individuals, churches, institutions and state managers would change their mindset of amassing wealth for themselves when given the power and certain positions.
Rev. Prof. Agbozo said it was the collective responsibility of all to ensure that the nation bounced back to a more stable economy with improved standards of living, and added, “We all have a part to play if we want to see development.”
