Chief Imam lauds gesture of Christians

The Chief Imam of the Mallam Central mosque, Alhaji Abdul Rahman, has observed that the goodwill gesture of Christians assisting Muslims during their month of fasting and prayer is laying a good foundation for peace and development of the country

This is because the show of fellow-feeling and commitment during the Ramadan is a sign of religious tolerance that is helping to deepen the already cordial relations existing among the various religious groups in the country

The Chief Imam made the observation during a presentation of assorted food items to a Muslim community at Mallam, a suburb of Accra .
He urged other sectors of the society to emulate the peaceful coexistence prevailing among the religious groups in the country to ensure peace which is a prerequisite for development.

Alhaji Rahaman, therefore, thanked the Executive Director of the Kwasona Group of Companies, Mr Kofi Asante and the Volta Youth Organised Development Association for assisting the Mallam Muslim community with assorted food items and boxes of halal meat worth GH¢ 3,000 to help them break their fast, which was expected to end yesterday.

Mr Asante called on Ghanaians to support Muslims in their spiritual month of Ramadan as they prayed for peace, stability and development of the country.

He said the donation formed part of the corporate responsibility of the company towards the Muslim community, especially the aged of Mallam as they prepared to bring their fasting and prayer period to a close.

Mr Asante said the company would endeavour to carry out this goodwill gesture across the country to support Muslim communities in their spiritual month of prayer and fasting.
