Apostles Revelation Society launches 80th anniversary

The Secretary to the Board of Trustees of the Apostles Revelation Society (ARS), Professor J.B.K. Aheto, has called on members of the church to imbibe the virtues of the founder, Prophet C.N.K. Wovenu, for the growth of the church.

He said the spiritual and religious accomplishments of the founder were worth emulating and urged members to unite and work towards achieving that objective.

Prof. Aheto made the call at the launch of the 80th anniversary and Founder’s Day celebration of the church at Tadzewu in the Volta Region.

The occasion was also used to cut the sod for the erection of a new tower bell for the church.

The year-long anniversary is on the theme: “Harnessing Our Collective Gains: Building Our Future In Unity.”

From its humble beginning, the church now has more than 756 branches worldwide (613 in Ghana and 143 outside the country.) Beyond the borders of Ghana, the church has branches in Togo, Benin, Burkina Faso, Cote d’Ivoire and Nigeria.

Other overseas branches can be found in Belgium, Canada, France, Germany, United Kingdom and the United States of America.

Prof. Aheto bemoaned the level of indiscipline among some religious institutions in the country and called on churches to expose those “deviants in society.”

Role of church

On the role of the church, he said it must be relied on to solve problems confronting its members and the society, stressing that “what we see these days is a complete departure from what people have fought and died for.”

Prof. Aheto eulogised the founder of the church (Prophet Wovenu) for laying a strong foundation which had kept the church in a strong position to contribute to the country’s development.

He commended the qualitative nature of the choirs, cultural troupes and singing bands from Togo and Sege and beyond for their show of solidarity, saying that “your level of belief and understanding that religion is part of culture is laudable”.

In his welcome address, the Administrator of the Church, Apostle C.K. Attipoe, said the theme for the celebration was unique and appropriate as it signified a call for members to rejuvenate themselves and emulate the good work of the founder of the church.

80 years

“Today is exactly 80 years when the church was founded by Prophet C.K.N. Wovenu. It is, therefore, fitting and proper for us to remember this special day in the annals of the church,” he said.

He said the church had an enviable record and history of numerous spiritual and religious accomplishments of national and international significance and repute, which must be protected.

“In recounting these accomplishments in detail and individually, which are in other publications of the church, I would like all of us to thank God for using us to do His wonders on earth,” he said.

Apostle Attipoe thanked individuals and groups for their collective and personal contributions in bringing the church to its current level of international significance.

“Our prayer is that this church will grow from strength to strength and be a shinning light nationally and internationally,” he said.

Local language

A Member of the Board of Trustees, Apostle A.N. Tehn-Addy, said Prophet Wovenu established the Tutudo Drumming Group with members who were gifted in composing songs in the local language, using biblical quotes in composing and singing in traditional tunes.

He said the church had achieved a lot in the social, education and agriculture sectors and also contributed significantly to the health sector in the country.

“Since the early 50s, it has established and successfully operated a healing centre that has taken care of the spiritual and physical needs of the people. It has over the years promoted traditional medicine in addition to spiritual healing,” he stressed.
