Sunyanihemaa funeral: Police questions MTTD officers and executioners who assaulted residents [VIDEO]
The Bono Regional Police Commander, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP), Mr Godfred Owusu-Boateng has directed immediate investigations into the assault of a private security man by some officers of the Motor Transport and Traffic Department (MTTD) for allegedly violating a road traffic regulation during the funeral of the Sunyanihemaa on Wednesday, reports Biiya Mukusah Ali.
The private security man, who was beaten mercilessly by the police was said to have jumped a roadblock mounted by the MTTD officers to pave way for mourners of the late Sunyanimanhemaa, Nana Yaa Nyamaa Poduo II.
Videos circulating on the social media show the victim being assaulted by some traditional warriors and the police.

A press statement signed by the Bono Regional Crime Officer, Chief Superintendent Nana Kwaku Duah, said the command had met with the representative of the funeral Steering Committee about the excesses on the part of some Abrafuo and the need to uphold the rights of the individual.
The statement titled “Activities of Abrafuo in Sunyani Municipality and unprofessional behaviour of some police personnel” said that the victim who was assaulted by the MTTD officers was not a police personnel as being speculated on the social media.
Meanwhile, a member of the funeral planning committee, Mr Ransford Antwi has explained that two people who have paraded themselves as abrafuor and assaulted some residents have been arrested and handed over to the police.
He gave the assurance that measures had been instituted to ensure the safety of residents and people who intend to visit the funeral grounds to mourn with the traditional council.
