Police kill suspected robber in Ejura anti-crime operation
The Ghana Police Service has shot dead a suspected armed robber during an intelligence-led operation at Ejura in the Ashanti Region.
The operation, carried out on March 18 by the Police Intelligence Directorate, targeted a robbery gang believed to have been terrorising residents and commuters, and linked to a series of attacks in the area.
Police identified the deceased as Amadu, also known as “Manu”, who sustained gunshot wounds during the operation and was later pronounced dead.
According to a police statement, the suspect was connected to a robbery incident on March 14 along the Atebubu–Ejura highway, during which armed assailants reportedly fired into a moving vehicle, injuring a passenger.
Items retrieved from the suspect included a single-barrelled gun, five live cartridges, a mobile phone and an amount of GH¢200.
The police say efforts have been intensified to track down and arrest other members of the gang to ensure they are brought to justice.
