Standard Chartered Ghana appoints Xorse Godzi as new CEO
Standard Chartered Bank Ghana PLC has appointed Xorse Godzi as its new Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director, effective June 11, 2026.
The appointment marks a leadership transition at the bank as Mr Godzi takes over from Mansa Nettey, who is retiring after more than 25 years of service with the Standard Chartered Group.
Announcing the appointment in a statement issued in Accra on Wednesday, the bank described Mr Godzi as an experienced career banker with over two decades of expertise within the Standard Chartered network across Africa and Europe.
Before his elevation to the top role, he served as Executive Director and Head of Ghana Corporates at Standard Chartered Bank Ghana PLC, a position he held while helping to steer the bank’s corporate business operations since 2017.
Over the years, Mr Godzi has occupied several senior positions within the banking group, including Director of Global Corporates in London and Head of Commodity Traders and Agribusiness for Africa, based in Johannesburg.
The Chairman of the Board of Standard Chartered Bank Ghana PLC, Ebenezer Twum Asante, paid tribute to Ms Nettey for her contribution to the institution, describing her tenure as one marked by dedicated leadership and strong service to the bank.
He said the board was confident that Mr Godzi’s extensive market knowledge, leadership experience and strategic outlook would help drive the bank’s next phase of growth and deepen value creation for clients, shareholders and the broader Ghanaian economy.
Mr Godzi, in his acceptance remarks, said he was honoured to assume leadership of the bank at a time when the institution was celebrating 130 years of operations and impact in Ghana.
He pledged to focus on empowering staff, strengthening client relationships and positioning the bank for sustainable long-term growth, while building on the institution’s legacy in the Ghanaian banking sector.
Established in 1896, Standard Chartered Bank Ghana PLC is one of the country’s oldest financial institutions and is listed on the Ghana Stock Exchange. The bank operates as part of the wider Standard Chartered Group, which has a presence in more than 50 markets globally.
