At the installation and coronation of Oscar Mensah Jessie as the 26th Denkyirahene

Thousands of indegenes of the Denkyiraman and other traditional authorities from various places on Monday gathered at Jukwa, in the Central Region for the installation and coronation of the 26th Denkyirahene.

Oscar Mensah Jessie swore the oath of allegiance to the chiefs and people of Denkyira.

The last coronation of a Denkyiramanhene, Odeefuo Boa Amponsem happened 70 years ago.

The new Dekyirahene, known in private life as Oscar Mensah Jessie is the Chief Executive Officer of the local radio station Bankam FM, located at Jukwa.

The Denkyira seat has remained vacant for the past 10 years since the demise of the 25th Denkyirahene, Odeefuo Boa Amponsem III in 2015.

The Denkyirahemmaa, Nana Ayensua Saara III had earlier assured all indigenes and well wishers that the coronation would come on as planned.

It was a sea of black and red at the Methodist School Park in Jukwa in the Central region.

Sounds of traditional drums and rythms, symbolic of honouring a mighty Denkyirahene's legacy and the commemoration of a new one who holds the expectations of a people whose history is indelible in Ghana's history was heard all over the town.
