Bawumia pledges CCTV installation to improve security at Kantamanto Market
Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has pledged to install CCTV cameras at the Kantamanto Market to enhance security following a devastating fire that destroyed the market and left thousands of traders counting their losses.
Dr Bawumia made the announcement during a visit to the market, where he inspected the extent of the damage and commiserated with affected traders.
“What I have seen is very sad and devastating. You have lost your investment and your livelihood, and we share in your loss and pains,” he told the traders.
As part of his commitment to supporting the market’s recovery, Dr Bawumia donated GH¢200,000 towards the ongoing reconstruction efforts. The reconstruction, already initiated by the traders themselves, drew praise from the Vice President.
“In addition to the monetary support, I will personally install CCTV cameras in the market to enhance security for the traders,” Dr Bawumia pledged.
He assured the traders of his continued support even as he prepares to leave office. “Even though I am going out of government, this will be my personal contribution. I will continue to be with you,” he stated.
The traders expressed their gratitude for Dr Bawumia’s timely intervention and pledged to rebuild stronger amidst this challenging period.
