BoG spends $35m on security, ICT, and furnishings for new headquarters
The Bank of Ghana (BoG) has spent $15.8 million on security systems, $8.6 million on ICT infrastructure, and $11.1 million on furnishings as part of its new $261.8 million headquarters project.
Governor Dr. Johnson Asiama disclosed this while addressing Parliament on Wednesday, March 5 2025, explaining that the expenditures were necessary to meet security, technological, and operational needs.
According to Dr. Asiama, the integrated electronic security system was designed to protect the central bank’s operations, while the ICT infrastructure would support modern banking functions.
Furnishings, he said, were part of the overall project costs to equip the building for full operation.

The Governor stated that the BoG’s procurement processes had been competitive and in line with regulatory requirements.
However, some Members of Parliament questioned whether such costs were justified, given the country’s current economic challenges.
Dr. Asiama assured the House that the central bank remains focused on prudent financial management and that the project was necessary due to structural defects in the old headquarters.
