Three of the deaths occurred only last week at Kissi Kwahekrom in the Komenda Edina Eguafo Abirem (KEEA) district when a collapsing wall fell on them - two women and an eight year old girl.

Even more worrying, the regional NADMO Coordinator, Mr Sandy Amartey Jnr who confirmed the deaths said people living in flood prone and low-lying areas thought to be at risk have refused to relocate.

According to Mr. Amartey, some people living along river banks at Ankaful in Cape Coast will not be bothered by calls to evacuate. He said however that "more rains are expected and we don’t have to take chances."

Two kids drowned in a pit that had been dug to collect rain water at Antaado, also in the KEEA district while another death occurred when a man was electrocuted at Amamoma near the University of Cape Coast. The man was reported to have stepped on a fallen electricity cable and got electrocuted.

At Idan in Cape Coast, another lady was killed by a falling wall, with another person drowning in the Akora River at Swedru in the Agona West municipality, while two other children died at Winge near Kasoa when they fell into a pit while playing.
