The items, worth about GH¢1,500, included cartons of milk, beverages, soap, confectionery, detergents and toiletries.

Presenting the items on behalf of the choir, the Tema Circuit Choir Chairman, Mr Isaac Mensah, said the choir, as a choral evangelistic ministry, decided to practicalise the virtues of the founder of the Methodist Church by getting closer to the less privileged to provide some of their needs.

He said Christians were obliged to always support the needy in the society since it was the main foundation on which Christianity was built.

According to him, the items were a token to the orphans in the home and a way to put smiles on their faces.

He assured the authorities of the home that plans were far advanced to make it an annual event and contribute towards the upkeep of the children.

He called on other churches to support the village in its quest to ensure the holistic development of the children.

The Very Reverend Ekow Sey, the Director of the Village, lauded the choir’s gesture and said it was a timely intervention that would help address the pressing needs of the children.

He indicated that the village was the church’s social intervention to help the needy in society and called on all and sundry to go to its aid.
