Company helps low-income earners to own houses

The Pentecostal Estate Developers Limited has designed a scheme and payment strategy to help people own lands as part of measures to ensuring that everyone with capital and the right attitude to own a house realises their dream.

As part of the strategy, the prospective buyer would sign an initial agreement, pay GH¢500 and spread the balance over a two-year monthly installment arrangement.

After the initial deposit of GH¢500, one has an 18-months period to complete payment or will have one’s land relocated to another to make way for development.

This initiative has been designed to help low and middle-income earners in society to be landlords.

A sod-cutting ceremony was held at Oyibi near Amarhia in the Adentan District of the Greater Accra Region at the weekend during which more than 50 acres of land was handed over to 80 individuals.

In attendance were beneficiaries, staff of the company, the Koowuley family of Katamanso who are the sole custodians of the land and two reverend ministers from the Church of Pentecost.

Established three years ago, the Pentecostal Estate Developers Limited operates in two regions, with branches in Accra, Tema and Kumasi.

The company, with well-known track records in estate development and strong moral background from the Church of Pentecost, is the brainchild of Elder Christopher Opoku-Mensah, the Managing Director; Elder Isaac Kofi Eduah, the Director of Marketing, and Mr Patrick Anim, the Director of Engineering and Architecture.

Delivering a sermon at the sod-cutting ceremony, the District Pastor of Adentan, Reverend Robert Odame, said: “Unless the Lord builds the house, the builder builds in vain; unless the Lord watches over the city, the watchman watches in vain,” connoting the saying that everything that happens under the sun falls on the shoulders of the Lord.

Rev. Odame advised the beneficiaries to keep to their part of the agreement and work tirelessly to achieve the dream of owning a house to shield them from the humiliations they suffered every day from the iron hands of landlords in the city.

“I pray to the Lord to let every dream be realised, but you equally have to be focused on the vision and be hopeful that He causes the impossible to be possible, ... the Lord has already prepared the land,” he stated.

Addressing the gathering, Mr Eduah sincerely apologised for the delays which were due to challenges beyond their control in securing that portion of the land which already had a land title.

Mr Eduah added that because of the delays, the company had decided to reduce the initial 50 per cent down payment to 40 per cent before showing the plot to the buyer.

He entreated customers to visit the Odorkor branch of the company near the Advanced Driving School and the Tema Community 2 branch which is close to former Adom FM building, to effect the necessary changes and enter into negotiation for securing building permits.
